Company records

I'm super excited to announce that your most requested feature is now available. Dedicated company records are here. They act and look a little differently compared to ordinary contacts. But don't worry, company records works seamlessly with all your favorite features like pipelines, automations, custom attributes etc.

Keep on reading for more details on why I built it and how it works, or head over to Wobaka.com and try it out.

Why now?

Ever since I started working on Wobaka I really didn't like the idea of having to create hierarchies for each contact. In fact, it's of the things I hated with big, bloated systems. I just wanted to add people, keep track of my conversations, and get reminders when something was due.

So I built the system to automagically relate contacts with each other based on things like company name and email domain. It's simple and works beautifully.

As time went on, I found that I sometimes created contacts with just a company name and maybe a website or an email address. This has always been possible in Wobaka, but they looked just like normal contacts so the user experience wasn't the best, I think.

Additionally, many of you have requested a way to tie opportunities and tasks to a company rather than a specific person. And while it's been possible, it hasn't been obvious. This is changing now.

People and companies

You can now choose whether to create a person record or a company record. It's also easy to convert a person record to a company and vice versa on the contact detail page. In the contacts list you can choose to view people, companies or both.

Every neat feature like custom attributes, tags, opportunities, tasks, notes, automations etc works seamlessly for people as well as companies.

People are automatically related to companies based on the company name or domain. You can also relate contacts manually and there's nothing keeping you from relating companies with other companies either. It's all up to you!

If you just want to work with people records, you can keep doing so. This feature is totally opt-in and Wobaka is still beautifully simple and works the same.

Here are some screenshots that shows what it looks like. Head over to the app and try out yourself.

A look behind the scenes

I'm super happy with this solution. It took a while to figure out a simple and clean solution. I was actually heading down a completely different, and very complex path when I had this idea in the car on a long drive north. I guess it payed off to give this feature some extra headspace before jumping to building it.

I hope you'll enjoy the sustained simplicity of Wobaka, with additional possibilities now being able to differentiate between people and companies. I'm looking forward to next year and to keep building features that makes your work easier and more enjoyable.

Thank you for using Wobaka!
